Sea Pines Fall 2026: Events, Bridge Work and Detours

October 8, 2026

Sea Pines is running two fall schedules this year, and they barely overlap. The infrastructure crews keep weekday office hours. Almost everything on the community's fall and holiday calendar falls on Thursday nights, weekends or the week of Thanksgiving. If you live here, the season goes most smoothly when you treat weekday daytime as construction time and plan everything else around the edges.

The overlap is small enough to name. One recurring event sits inside the crews' window, and one street cluster is affected around the clock. Everything else depends on which day of the week you choose.

The crews keep office hours

Sea Pines CSA posts the same work window for its two most visible fall projects: Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., excluding major holidays. Weekend or overnight work is possible, and CSA says it will announce that in advance.

Here is where the work is as of early October:

  • Deer Island Bridge. Crews are excavating and replacing the bridge that connects Deer Island Road to Lighthouse Road. The project is expected to run through December 2026. A temporary traffic signal has been on Deer Island Road since construction started the week of September 14. Bike riders must dismount and walk around active work zones.
  • Beach Lagoon Pedestrian Timber Bridge #31. The wooden footbridge between West Beach Lagoon Road and South Beach Lagoon Road has passed its useful life and is closed while it's rebuilt. CSA estimates 4 to 8 weeks of work. Work started the week of September 14, so a reopening between mid-October and mid-November fits that estimate, weather permitting. Car traffic isn't affected.
  • Lighthouse Lane Infrastructure Phase 4. This project covers Lighthouse Lane, Mizzenmast Lane, Windjammer Court, Mizzenmast Court and Genoa Court. It's scheduled from early September 2026 through early spring 2027. As of CSA's September 28 update, drainage work was underway.

The Deer Island signal deserves the most attention. CSA's September 25 update warned of this:

"Sheet piling installation to begin Monday, September 28. Traffic delays of approximately 15-20 minutes expected next week."

That estimate covered one specific week of the job. Still, it shows how long a weekday trip across that bridge can take while heavy work is going on. On the CSA project page, the updates come in roughly weekly, and that page is the place to check before planning a weekday errand on that side of the community.

Two of these projects reach past the 7-to-7 window. On the five Lighthouse Lane streets, CSA has set up temporary daytime parking arrangements for affected properties through the end of 2026. Deer Island has a rule for scheduled construction and large deliveries, including tractor trailers, moving trucks and furniture or appliance deliveries. Residents should call Sea Pines Security at 843.671.7170 to get approval and coordinate traffic before the truck arrives. If a new sofa or a contractor visit is planned for Deer Island before December, make that call first.

One project you might have expected to see is on hold. CSA's capital plan had listed the Beachwalk #47 improvements for fall 2026 through early spring 2027. The project page now says the start is postponed, and a new date will be announced once it's confirmed.

Saturdays belong to Fish Island and Coast

The first big date on the fall calendar falls on a Saturday. On October 17, the Sea Pines Forest Preserve holds its second annual Day of Discovery at Fish Island, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. It's open to Sea Pines property owners and guests. Admission is free, but you have to register. No crew schedule gets in the way, and the closed Beach Lagoon footbridge has nothing to do with getting there by car.

Saturday evenings belong to the oyster roasts at Coast. The resort's calendar lists them from October 10 through February 27. The event page describes Saturday service with oysters from Maggioni Oyster Company and live music from Mark Husbands. The resort's calendar leaves the year off those dates and notes that schedules can change, so confirm a specific Saturday before inviting guests.

The Forest Preserve's other fall evening is a Friday that starts before the crews' day ends. The 15th Annual Bonfire runs November 13 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., with cocktails, Lowcountry food and live music. Proceeds go to the preserve's capital replacement projects. If your route runs past Deer Island Road, allow some extra time for the drive in.

Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons

The midweek and weekend dining events also sit outside the work window. The resort lists Thursday Pint Night at Fraser's Tavern from October 1 through December 31, with monthly tap takeovers. Sunday Lobster Bakes at Harbourside are listed through November 1, so only a few Sundays are left this season.

Halloween on the Harbour is on Sunday, October 25, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. It includes games around Harbour Town, trick-or-treating and a costume fashion show. A Sunday afternoon on the harbor falls well outside the posted construction hours.

At South Beach, the redevelopment at the marina is a separate private project from the CSA work, with its own timeline. The latest dated progress report is the Island Packet's March 2026 visit. At that point, walls and a roof were up on the building planned for Jake's Cargo, and vertical construction on the future Salty Dog Cafe building hadn't started. No newer schedule has been published. Salty Dog's construction notice says the Cafe, General Store, T-shirt Shop, Ice Cream and Bluewater Tackle Shop are all still operating and open every day. The Cafe lists daily hours of 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the bar stays open later.

The Tuesday market is the one that overlaps

One recurring event falls inside the crews' weekday window. The Farmers & Makers Market at The Shops at Sea Pines Center runs Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the resort lists it through November 24. That leaves about eight Tuesdays from today.

That's the only standing date on this fall's calendar that puts you on Sea Pines roads at the same time as active bridge work. On a Tuesday, a route that avoids Deer Island Road will likely save you the most time. CSA's traffic map on the Deer Island project page shows where the signal and detours are. Cyclists headed to the market should know about the dismount rule in the work zone. Anyone who used to walk across the Beach Lagoon footbridge will need another route until it reopens.

Thanksgiving week turns the calendar over

The busiest stretch of the season comes when CSA's posted schedule is already working around holidays. The Deer Island and Beach Lagoon work windows exclude major holidays. Here's how that week and the rest of the holiday season line up:

  1. Wednesday, November 25, 5 p.m. Reservations close for the resort's Thanksgiving Scavenger Hunt. The event page doesn't give the hunt's date, so confirm it when you book.
  2. Friday, November 27, 10 to 11:30 a.m. The 23rd Annual Fishing Tournament at Fish Island. Reservations are required.
  3. Friday, November 27, evening. Harbour Town Lights opens. The tree lighting comes just before Gregg Russell's 7:30 p.m. concert, and the display stays on daily through January 1, 2027.
  4. Sunday and Monday, December 27 and 28. Holiday Fun in Harbour Town, with holiday movies, marshmallow roasting and train rides. Movies and roasting start at 6 p.m.

Holiday Fun lands in the final days of CSA's estimate for the Deer Island Bridge, which runs through December 2026. The Lighthouse Lane daytime parking arrangements are scheduled to end with the year. The Lighthouse Lane drainage project itself continues into early spring 2027. Those are estimates, and a single weather delay can move them. The CSA project pages will show the change first.
